Mission & Outreach

The Ladle

​​

THE LADLE is an ecumenical soup kitchen that makes its home in the Fellowship Hall of St. John's Lutheran Church; 1320 Church Street; Old Economy; Ambridge, Pennsylvania.  Every Monday afternoon between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM, we provide a hot meal and warm hospitality to our guests.

This mission is supported by volunteer groups from 17 local churches/organizations that prepare and serve  meals every Monday.

Laura and Edgar Cojon - Guatemala

 

​Currently Edgar is the assistant pastor at Santuario Familiar, a church plant that began services in January 2011 in Cuidad Quetzal.  The church is the location of a feeding center for Manna Worldwide.  Laura and Edgar also manage the guest house for Manna Worldwide short term mission teams in Guatemala City and  are directors of the Manna Worldwide Children’s home.

Center for Hope
​

Center for Hope is a faith-based organization dedicated to providing food and clothing, educational and career services to underserved residents of Ambridge, Pennsylvania.

Little Free Pantry
​

The Little Free Pantry at House of Prayer in Aliquippa is a small outdoor box that is stocked with canned goods and nonperishable food items. It is always open for anyone in need or for donations.

We Care Food Pantry
 

We Care Food Pantry is located in the Baden United Methodist Church is part of the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank system and is strongly supported by many organizations and churches. It has served the Baden, Conway, and Economy areas since the early 1980's. Food distributions are made on the third Monday and Tuesday evenings of each month. We support this feeding ministry with ongoing financial support and food drives.

Uncommon Grounds Café
 

This ministry offers community art programs and several outreach programs.  Their motto sums it up:  ‘We reach the least, the last, and the lost with the gospel of Christ through listening and offering dignity.”  They are a space for transition from isolation to community, working with vulnerable adults, children and youth.
